Welcome to the opening weekend of the 2014 Mountain Bike Season!
This weekend Pedal Power was represented by the Owsley family at race #1 in the Tailwind Race Series in Michigan, USA. It was a beautiful weekend for racing and Tony and Abby did not disappoint. Here is a race report from Abby:
" The family traveled down to Pontaic city for the Tailwind series Pontaic Lake season opener. After a couple of wrong turns we made it to the race about 40 mins till start. It was pretty chilly, but we got ourselves organised and gave the kids to friends to watch as both Tony & myself were racing at the same time (10AM).
I raced the womens Elite Category and was preparing to anchor the field, Tony had entered his standard master 40-49. We both started and had 2 x 10mile loops to do. Our first lap was also our pre-ride, which was fine. The course was the best track I have ridden in Michigan. Lots of fast flowing single track. a few gritty climbs and plenty of rocks to contend with. Tony led his category before ending in a sprint finish for 8th place. I managed to get a surprising 2nd place (& 70$) after a great race with a fair amount of battling in the start before a lonesome (but fun) second lap."
